FAQ - THL Homeschooling Women's Retreat
This retreat is for any homeschooling women who are in need of refreshing, encouragement and a break! The theme of this retreat is 'Nurturing the Whole You'.
Session attendance is optional. If you just want to come and hang out, be fed and sleep - you can do that! Or if you want to come, connect with other homeschoolers you can do that too! There will be reflective sessions and some scheduled time for rest too. This is a time to invest in yourself...something we don't tend to get a chance to do too often. x
Canowindra is known as the Hot Air Balloon capital of Australia and is located in the beautiful Central West of NSW. It is 300km from Sydney.
The best way to travel to Canowindra is by car or by plane.
Canowindra is 50 mins south west of Orange Airport but it would be advisable to have organised a car from Orange to Canowindra. You can call Hertz Car Rental Orange Airport on (02) 6362 0644 To read more about Canowindra, you can visit this website HERE
* Your accommodation is in the beautiful Eddy's of Canowindra. Once a convent, it is now immaculate accommodation perfect for our purposes of being together, unwinding and being encouraged. You can choose from either dorm accommodation or an ensuite (for those keen to splurge and pay a little extra!) If you choose an ensuite room, you can opt to share the bed with a friend however you would need to split the costs between yourselves. There are 4 beds in each of the dorm rooms with occupants having access to bathrooms on the same level as their rooms. There are 3 showers and 3 toilets on each floor. Once again, please note that there are internal and external flights of stairs. Read more under 'Is the venue wheel chair friendly?' * Your linen is provided for.
* Your meals and snacks. Please feel free to bring your own snacks too. BYO alcohol only. Please note that drunkenness will not be tolerated and anyone in an intoxicated manner may be asked to find alternative accommodation. * Your group sessions. Group talks are all included. There will be an option for participating in either a local guided Bushranger walking tour, a painting class or a Pilates class. Your participation in any of these classes will be at your expense ($50 per person). Participation is optional in these 3 activities.
* Group Trivia and Dress Up Night. Saturday night is reserved for a little fun! Participation is optional but we are aiming to have a bit of a fun night together. No wild partying as such just a bit of fun :) * Please bring spending money if you'd like to walk or drive into Canowindra township and support some of the local cafes or shops. Your meals have been thoughtfully planned to ensure you will have a delicious home-style meal for each main, with yummy snacks in between at your disposal!
A local apprentice chef will be cooking our meals and looks forward to meeting you all. Food prep and washing up will be done for you so you don't have to lift a finger to help and can make the most of your relaxing weekend. We can cater for vegetarians and for gluten free options too. For coeliacs, every due diligence will be taken to ensure there is no cross-contamination of food however please note that there are shared appliances such as toasters on the premises that will be used in food preparation.

There are beautiful dorm rooms located on the ground floor and second level of Eddy's. Each room is painted in heritage colours in keeping with Eddy's heritage.
Please note there is internal stair access only.
* Please note that bunks can be taken apart for ease of access if preferable.

Blue/Grey Room - 2 single beds and a bunk*
Natural Room - 2 single beds and a bunk*
Ensuite Room - (next to kitchen out of the house but joined by main deck) - double bed

Lusi Austin, trading as 'That Homeschool Life' / 'THL' shall not be liable for any unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our normal control, which the consequences of could not have been avoided even when exercising all due care. Such circumstances or events include, but are not limited to, pandemic outbreak, war or threat of war, riot, civil unrest, industrial disputes or strikes, accidents or failure to perform by third parties, including suppliers and subcontractors, unavoidable technical problems with the accommodation, transport or closure or congestion of airports, terrorist activity, natural disasters, acts of God, industrial disasters, fire, theft, flooding and adverse weather conditions. In the event of any the above, refunds and compensation payments cannot be made.
Lusi Austin/That Homeschool Life accepts no liability for loss, damage, injury or illnesses which may be received during the guest’s stay or travelling to and from That Homeschool Life's retreats. All guests must take responsibility for their own medical and physical fitness. While the venue does have a wheelchair accessible room with accessible shower and toilet, please note that some of the group activities and talks will take place on the second floor. Unfortunately, the only way to access this is via stairs. Please take this into consideration when purchasing your ticket.
